The Department of Economics at the University of Zurich is a leading, world-renowned teaching and research center in the field of economics. With more than 300 members, it is known for its innovative work and is committed to a truly multidisciplinary approach, which combines modern economics with elements of history, political science, psychology, sociology, biology, and neuroscience. The team of Professor Andreas I. Mueller at the Department of Economics is hiring a research assistant for projects on job search behavior, unemployment dynamics, and inequality across demographic groups. In our research projects we analyze large survey datasets from the European Union as well as administrative data from Switzerland and Austria. The main goal of these projects is to contribute to the scientific debate in labor economics. We also aim to participate in the public debate by writing policy reports for government agencies.
Your responsibilities
Your main task is to help us apply for, prepare and analyze the data. Additional tasks include reviewing literature and preparing reports and presentations. We offer the opportunity to acquire firsthand research experience and skills for data analysis that will be useful in both your studies and your professional life and the opportunity to collaborate on research projects that are innovative and highly relevant to current political debates.
Your profile
study economics (BA or MA level)
currently enrolled as student at the University of Zurich
motivated to actively collaborate on empirical research projects
dedicated to mastering Stata and LaTeX, previous experience is a plus
can work independently and diligently in the preparation and analysis of the data
